The earth and humans are made up of over 70% water which justifies what an important role water plays in the living ecosystem. H20 is the chemical formula for water that we’ve learnt right from when we were kids and it’s been drilled into our heads and rightly so. Today I’ve decided to dedicate an article to my favorite beverage, one without which we cannot survive and one that we often take for granted, water.
Here are just a few of the innumerable benefits that my favorite beverage has to offer:
Water plays a key role in the nourishment of your skin. It keeps the skin hydrated and prevents it from getting dry and itchy. If you consume lesser water your skin won’t have enough water to keep the skin soft, supple, healthy and well nourished. Instead, you might find your skin developing cracks and wrinkles too. Make sure you get plenty of water at regular intervals through the day; the secret to having glowing skin!
Aaah, what would we do without water? Water is absolutely necessary to complete the process of digestion. It helps breaking down the food and also softens the food so that it can be digested easily once it reaches the stomach.
Aids Muscle Movement
If there’s a lack of water in your body you might find that your muscles aren’t moving quite as smoothly and you’ll be able to feel the rigidity in your muscles. Muscles are largely made up of water and require a constant supply when being used. So it’s very important to drink water regularly in between your workouts, ladies!
Helps Losing Weight
This is the one you’ve been wanting to hear, right? Water is my favorite beverage because it’s 0 calories and comes with no baggage. Drinking lots of water can help keep hunger at bay without adding to the calories. Studies have also shown that people that drink more water while dieting tend to lose more weight than people who consume lesser water.
Water plays a significant role in expelling unwanted and harmful toxins from the body. Water-soluble toxins are removed through the consumption of water. Water also flushes out toxins from the kidney while passing through it therefore helping you keep your system clean.
Contains Vital Vitamins And Minerals
Water is a 0 calorie liquid which makes it a great drink to have if you’re looking to lose weight. Although water has a negligible number of calories, it is filled with vital vitamins and minerals that are vital for the functioning of our body. If you’ve ever noticed we don’t drink 100% pure water or distilled water. There are impurities in the water we drink and these impurities are the vitamins and minerals present in the water. These vitamins and minerals give water the “taste” it has and completes this wonderful drink we’ve been blessed with. I could write for hours on end about water and about its benefits. Drinking lots of water has always been a key part of my lifestyle and I’ve always had a lot of respect for this drink. It’s a humble beverage with countless benefits we should all enjoy. Cheers to water!
Drink 8, 8-ounce glasses of water (approximately, 2 liters) every day. Ensure that you get at least that much water so that your body can carry out its daily activities.
