Coconut oil has been used for various needs of man for centuries, right from cooking to its medical benefits. Today I’m here to tell you more about the benefits of coconut oil and show you how you can take advantage of another one of nature’s best!
Coconut oil is a fantastic moisturizer for your skin. When topically applied to the skin it helps you get rid of any cracks, dryness and flaky skin. It also provides the necessary hydration the skin requires to keep the skin nourished and also to help repair damaged skin cells.
Coconut oil also has anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties that can help prevent the buildup of bacteria in your mouth. It can be used as a toothpaste by combining it with baking soda and brushing your teeth.
I’m very particular about keeping my hair healthy and fresh. It can be hard to do so when you’re outside for a large part of the day and then hit the gym in the evening. The sweat definitely doesn’t help in keeping your hair healthy.
A great counter to that is applying coconut oil to your hair a couple of times a week. I just apply it on my hair, leave it overnight (don’t forget to place a napkin on your pillow or you might ruin your pillow) and wash it the next morning. Coconut oil does a fantastic job in keeping my hair well nourished. I get the bouncy and shining hair I absolutely adore while using this, and it’s 100% natural!
Heals Skin Cells
As I previously stated coconut oil can be used to treat dry skin as it provides the skin with the hydration it requires to keep it healthy. Another benefit of coconut oil is that it helps healing wounds too! As it’s a great moisturizer, coconut oil helps healing the cells where you’ve been afflicted with a wound. Use it frequently on the wounded area and you’ll see the wound recover that much faster.
Helps Maintain Body Hygiene
I’m a big fan of natural products and try to avoid chemical products wherever possible. Coconut oil helps me avoid another chemical product for a good part of the day by replacing my deodorant. Thanks to the presence of lauric acid in coconut oil, it has anti-bacterial properties which helps keep away any sort of bacterial buildup which keeps you smelling fresh for a good part of the day.
This might come as a surprise to a lot of people but coconut oil being a medium-chain fatty acid or MCFA is a healthy fat and is completely free of trans fats. Coconut oil’s fatty acid immediately goes to the liver which helps in increasing metabolism levels of the body.
Those are 6 benefits of coconut oil you probably haven’t heard of before. I learned a lot of those over the past few years while battling against the bulge. Now, I’m a big fan of coconut oil and use it regularly for varying needs of mine.
