Tricks to Be The Hottest Mom for Halloween!

Halloween is quickly approaching. This means it’s time to start thinking of what kind of amazing costume you’re going to choose for this year’s haunting events.

I love this time of year. It’s a great excuse to dress funny and be a kid again.

The problem is — you don’t want to show up for any festive events looking a little too chubby for your outfit. You want to look good in that costume, girl, and that means you don’t want to have to squeeze any extra pounds into that nurse’s uniform or your pirate wench outfit.

But how can you drop pounds quickly? You don’t have much time before the witching hour. Here are a few suggestions to help you drop a little weight this week.

The trick is to treat your body with lots of fat burning foods.

This means eat protein, healthy fats such as avocados, and fibrous carbohydrates.

Resist the urge to buy a lot of candy in advance “for the trick or treaters”. You know you’ll bust open the bag before Halloween and then you’ll be handing out packs of sugar free gum that you found in the bottom of your purse to the kids. Don’t buy candy until the day you plan to hand it out! And don’t buy so much that you’ll know you’ll have plenty leftover.

In fact, eliminate all refined sugar from your diet. That kind of sugar gives you a very short burst of energy but then you crash and you’re left feeling tired and hungry. Eat fruits that are filled with fiber. The fiber keeps your glucose level from spiking but you still get the enjoyment of a sweet treat. Fill up on whole grains and fresh veggies.

Don’t let yourself get too hungry. Eat small meals and healthy snacks throughout the day. You won’t be tempted to binge eat if you’re not hungry. But when you try to “diet” and starve yourself you’ll eventually fall off the wagon and start eating a lot of unhealthy food.

Do some extra fat blasting exercise this week. I would suggest some squats, step-ups or lunges. These all get your legs moving which is an important part of weight loss.

Finally, fill your diet with some super foods that are packed with nutrients. They’ll fill you with energy while boosting your metabolism to burn fat faster.

Some of my favorites are:

Acai berry – This super food is packed with nutrients and antioxidants. You’ll feel satisfied after eating a small amount.

apple cider vinegarApple cider vinegar – A little of this between meals will help you fight cravings and keep your glucose from spiking. It’s also been shown to make your body more insulin sensitive. This will help you burn the pounds off.

Chia seeds – Put a couple of spoonfuls of these to make your smoothie super powerful. These tiny seeds are a complete source of protein. They contain antioxidants, omega 3 oils, fiber and vitamins.

Goji berries – Another great food to add to your smoothies. These are packed with antioxidants and are known for their anti-aging properties.

You can find all of these at a health food stores if they don’t have them at your local grocery chain. You can also order them online if you can’t find them locally.

No matter who or what you decide to be this Halloween — dropping a few extra pounds will help you look better than ever in this year’s costume.
