It is a great way to recharge your system and say goodbye to all those nasty toxins inside your body. Detoxifying your body can also give you a major energy boost, improve the overall appearance of your skin and even decrease bloating, gas and congestion. Below I explain the healthy way to detox without feeling miserable and deprived.

Drink Lots Of Water

Not only is water calorie-free, but it’s a great way to quench your thirst and flush toxins from your body. Try to avoid alcohol and caffeinated drinks at all costs. They not only dehydrate the body, but they come with “empty calories.” Make an effort to drink 2 to 3 liters of water daily.

Eliminating processed foods and ones that contain preservatives and additives can help take pressure off the liver, kidney and intestines. That means fast food is a big no-no! The same goes for red meat, dairy and starches. Avoid them, too. They can place a heavy burden on your body’s detoxification system. Stick to eating vegetables, fruits, raw nuts, fish and whole grains instead.

Stay Active

Cardio exercise is great in more ways than one. Of course, it burns calories and melts pounds. However, it also causes the heart to pump faster, helping to push toxins out of the body. When you sweat in the process, it helps rid your body of any bad and potentially harmful pollutants. On top of that, working out makes you feel better about yourself. Go ahead. Give it a try!

Get Plenty Of Sleep

Making sure you get plenty of rest is so crucial to a healthy lifestyle. Failing to do this increases your chances for a weakened immune system, lack of energy and weight gain. Try to get at least 7 to 8 hours of sleep a night. This will give your body’s vital organs much needed rest and promote cell renewal.

Studies have shown that stress can lead to unwanted weight gain, and it certainly doesn’t help to cleanse your body of toxins. In fact, stress can make it worse. Meditation and yoga are both great ways to help you unwind and naturally eliminate toxins from the body faster.

Detoxification is perfect for you if you can’t seem to lose weight, feel tired, struggle with digestive problems, have skin issues and experience aches and pains often. On average, a detox lasts anywhere from one to ten days. This is not written in stone, of course. Listen to your body and do what feels right for you. If you are pregnant, suffer from a chronic disease or other medical problem—consult with your physician first.
